30 Day Nail Challenge Day 20: Water Marble

I hope everyone had a good Mother’s Day this weekend. My mom was really happy with the flowers I sent her and she really enjoyed the lobster my dad bought for her.
Day 20 of the 30 Day Nail Challenge is water marble nails, if you follow me on Instagram you will know that this is not my favourite type of manicure. I find it messy and uncontrollable. I have found that by applying some type of greasy lotion on the cuticle and fingertip of the soon to be marbled digit you can cut down on the messiness. I have also found that certain polishes work better than others for this process (Revlon polishes tend to spread more, Pure Ice and Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear polish do not spread out in the water unless they are used first). I have also practiced on some false nails to try and get the hang of this technique. So here you are, my water marble manicure in shades of purple.

For this look I used:
Seche Vite Base Coat
Revlon eclectic, fashionista, optimistic
Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear breezy blue
Seche Vite Top Coat
I like the way these turned out and have started warming up to the water marble process. I warmed up so much to the water marbling that I decided to give it a go with some other polishes on my Cinderella hand. I also received some mini Essie polishes from the summer collection as a gift from my Bestie and I was itching to try them.

My Cinderella hand was done using Essie: off the shoulder, mojito madness, bikini so teeny, fear or desire.
These colours worked really well for water marbling, thanks Bestie!

Do you have any tricks or tips to share? I could really use them to help me perfect the technique.

Next up in the 30 Day Nail Challenge is a manicure inspired by a colour.
