30 Day Nail Challenge Day 10: Gradient

Happy Monday everybody!! Wow it has been 5 days since I posted a 30DNC manicure!!! I haven’t forgotten my readers, I’ve simply been very busy. I hosted my first Nail Party this weekend and it was quite a success, I had a ton of ladies show up (next time there will be a cap on the number of attendees). Thank the stars many of them did their own base coats and I only had to do the nail art, if they haven’t it would have turned into a Nail Slumber Party!

Ok now back to the 30DNC, day 10 is a gradient manicure. I used a sponge to do the gradient, I was going to add some stamping but I liked the way my gradient turned out so I left it as is.

I really like the color combo, I might have to revisit the color scheme in another manicure.
What do you think?

For this look I used:
Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Bubblegum Pink
Maybelline Color Show Impeccable Grays
Seche Vite Top Coat
*makeup sponge

30 Day Nail Challenge Day 9: Rainbow

Day 9 of the 30 Day Nail Challenge: rainbow!!!
This manicure was really fun to do, I tried a new-to-me product from Nailene: Nail Tattoos!! They are basically a water transfer, just like those temporary tattoos you wear as a kid. Here is a picture of the packaging:

For about $7 CAD you get two mini nail polishes and thirty nail tattoos, I cut the tattoos in half before applying them. Since I had a leftover half I cut it up into strips and used them as accents to tie the look together.

I am loving these nail tattoos! I can’t wait to try the other styles that came in the kit. I especially like the maps of the New York City Subway system. I may use them later in the challenge for the movie themed nails… Stay tuned!

What do you think? Rainbow enough for the Challenge?
Next up: gradient nails

For this look I used:
Revlon Provoke
Maybelline Color Show Blue Blowout
Revlon Enchanting
Pure Ice Excuse Me
Nailene *unknown colour (off white)
Seche Vite Top Coat

30 Day Nail Challenge Day 8: Metallic

The 30 Day Nail Challenge day 8 manicure is a metallic theme. I decided to try this tape manicure again because I like the look of the crisp edge the tape gives you. Unfortunately, I’m waiting for some stripping tape to arrive in the mail and the only thing I have on hand right now is Scotch Tape.
One tip: LET YOUR BASE COAT DRY COMPLETELY BEFORE APPLYING THE TAPE AND PULLING IT OFF!
I’m sure that had I taken this advice my mani would have been much less frustrating to do but when it comes to craft I don’t RTFM much. Nonetheless, I think it turned out pretty well, it was a little plain so I izzyfied it by adding some stamps.
Here it is:

What do you think? Have you ever used tape?

For this look I used:
Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Golden-I
Rimmel Black Satin
Hard Candy crush on raisin
Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Celeb City
Seche Vite Top Coat

Next up in the challenge is Rainbow! Let us hope it doesn’t end up looking like a hot mess, I did get new plates recently with a unicorn that would totally make a statement. Stay tuned…

30 Day Nail Challenge Day 7: Black & White

The 30 Day Nail Challenge Day 7: Black & White manicure.
I was surfing the net and stumbled upon a tutorial for a beautiful design by Robin Moses. I’ve included the YouTube link for the tutorial below:

Robin Moses Black Bird Tutorial

After watching the video I had to try out her techniques, this was also my first time using acrylic paint in a manicure.

I used a grey polish and a pink iridescent polish to do the clouds, I also created bushier trees by using a stippling motion with my brush.

The finished product reminds me of French toile fabric.

What so you think?

For this look I used:
Maybelline Color Show Porcelain Party
NYC Sidewalkers
Revlon Ritzy
Hard Candy Black Tie Optional
Rimmel Lasting Finnish Black Satin
Sally Hansen Beyond Perfect Fresh Lavender
Delta Ceramcoat acrylic paint Black
Seche Vite Top Coat

30 Day Nail Challenge Day 6: Violet

It is day 6 of the 30 Day Challenge, today’s colour is violet or purple. I really like the way the stamped nails turned out, I think it looks like peacock feathers. I also happened to capture the less than pleasant part of peacocks: poop! Yes that index nail looks like bird droppings. Lol I tried to cover up the base colour I used (purple) with a black and white glitter, unfortunately the clear base in the polish let too much of the undercoat through and I over did it a tad. Oh well live and learn!

What do you guys think of the bird poop mani?

For this look I used:
Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Posh Plum
Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Golden-I (stamping)
Maybelline Color Show Sea-Quins
Hard Candy Black Tie Optional
Revlon Girly
Seche Vite Top Coat

30 Day Nail Challenge Day 5: Blue

Here is my fifth manicure for the “Challenge”, it is blue and since I received my new Winstonia nail plates I couldn’t wait to use them. (Jumps up and down like a schoolgirl!)

And, yes my dear reader you saw correctly: NEW NAIL PLATES!!!! They are made by Winstonia and I ordered them here. The mustache and glasses stamped really well, I was a bit worried, sometimes the designs with larger surface areas to transfer can be tricky. I used some Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear to stamp the designs, I find the thicker stuff better for stamping.
So here it is, what do you think?

I love the mustaches and glasses, they remind me of police officers. The thumb nail colour has round glitter in it the matches the blue sparkle of the darker nails. I have never met a glitter I could resist!

For this manicure I used:
Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear: Breezy Blue
Revlon: Gold Coin (stamp)
Essence Colour & Go: Date in the Moonlight
Maybelline Color Show: Sea-Quins
Seche Vite Top Coat
