30 Day Nail Challenge Day 26: Inspired By A Pattern

Day 26 of the 30 Day Nail Challenge is a pattern inspired nail, I wanted to do a hippie pattern and chose to use a tie dye as my inspiration.

30 Day Nail Challenge Day 25: Inspired By Fashion

The 30 Day Nail Challenge is starting to wind down, today is the 25th day of the challenge! Wow! Today’s look is inspired by fashion and I love Dolce & Gabbana! I had a look at their web site and stumbled upon this:
Dolce & Gabbana Winter 2014
and this:
Dolce & Gabbana Winter 2014
I love ornate embroidery and the look of old paintings so these two dresses totally fit the bill. I decided to try using some of my craft water transfers on my nails to see if they would work like the Nailene nail tattoos I’ve used in the past. Well they didn’t, they were thicker and tore/cracked easily but once you put a top coat over the transfer it stuck to the nail with no problems. Air bubbles however became holes once the top coat dried.

I love the way this turned out and I definitely will be using the water transfers again. The water transfers I used for this manicure are by Lisa Pavelka, I purchased them at Micheal’s art stores in the polymer clay area or online.

30 Day Nail Challenge Day 24: Inspired By A Book

The 30 Day Nail Challenge is in the home stretch! Day 24 is a manicure inspired by a book, since I am a huge fan of science fiction and my all time favourite book is The Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy by Douglas Adams I had to choose it as my inspiration.

30 Day Nail Challenge Day 22: Inspired by a Song

Today the 30 Day Nail Challenge is inspired by a song. I really struggled with this one because I have had Rihanna’s Diamonds stuck in my head for a week now and could not think of another song to do. I finally settled on… Empire State of Mind by Jay Z as my inspiring song, and as a bonus it gave me a chance to use nail tattoos again.

I really like this look, I probably should have stamped on top of the Statue of Liberty’s fireworks after adding glitter but it was time to stop and go to bed.

For this look I used:
Nailene nail tattoos
Seche Vite Base Coat

30 Day Nail Challenge Day 21: Inspired by a Colour

Today is the 21st day of the 30 Day Nail Challenge and the theme is inspired by a colour. I decided to do a marine or ocean blue nail and since I’m getting so good at this water marbling thing, I decided to give it another go. I started with a white base, stamped on some marine life and, did a water marble on top. Some of the stamping was obscured by the water marbling but it still turned out well and they received some compliments when I wore them.

20130515-151625.jpg
I might try this look again but I will use an all over stamp as my base and the individual stamps on top of the water marble.

For this look I used:
Seche Vite Base Coat
Pure Ice twisted
Revlon eclectic
Maybelline Color Show blue blowout
Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear breezy blue
Seche Vite Top Coat

Nail Plates:

Gals Fairy Set GA42
Winstonia W106, W108

Next up in the 30DNC is inspired by a song…

30 Day Nail Challenge Day 17: Glitter

Today’s 30 Day Nail Challenge is glitter! I love glitter! It is amazing but very hard to remove, as many of you know. I have a really hard time passing up a glitter polish, if it happens to be on sale I definitely will not be passing it by! So for day 17 I decided to go all out on the glitter.

20130505-133947.jpg
I started with undies in Revlon Provence, the black base for the Moon Candy, Maybelline Color Show sea-quins and then added some Nail Candy cocoa s’more, the top coat to the moon candy and, stamping to the glitter.
What do you think? I really like the stamping over the glitter, I will be doing that again sometime soon.

For this look I used
Seche Vite Base Coat
Maybelline Color Show sea-quins
Revlon Provence
Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear celeb city
Revlon Moon Candy moon dust
Nail Candy cocoa s’more
I also added some rhinestones from cheeky beauty.

Next up in the 30dnc is half moons…

30 Day Nail Challenge Day 12: Stripes.

the 30 Day Nail Challenge for today is Stripes, I went for a nautical theme complete with whales and mermaids. I also tried out a DIY peel off base coat that I had seen floating around the blogosphere. What sorcery is this you ask? It simply consists of painting you nails with white glue then applying your polish on top. Guess what? This actually works!!!!! I painted my nails with the glue, let it dry, created my nautical using nail polish and sealed it with a topcoat.

20130420-141657.jpg

I thought it would be a good idea to document the wear I would get out of this experiment, I have to say that it held up really well. After a day at work I only saw a little bit of tip wear and a few corners had worn down. I wore it again today and it did not show anymore wear than yesterday. This is one trick I will be using again.

20130420-142031.jpg
I finally indulged my desire to peel my polish today and it peeled off like a charm.

20130420-142301.jpg
What do you think? Has anyone ever tried this method before?
My next mani for the 30DNC is animal print, I just received a boat load of nail stamping plates from Bundle Monster and Pueen so…

30 Day Nail Challenge Day 11: Polka Dots

Day 11 of the 30DNC is polka dots. I received some new nail plates from Gals so I riffled through them to find some nice round or polka dotted images to use. I came up with five designs that I thought would work well over this wonderful green by O.P.I. I used an Essence polish to do the accent dots on the stamped images.

20130417-143742.jpg
I really like the way this turned out. Granted, this is not your typical dotted manicure (which I can’t seem to do very well) but you still get the idea. I think this green would be really pretty with some gold stamping on top too, thanks to my besty for lending to me/forgetting it at my house! Lol!

For this look I used:
O.P.I. green-wich village
Essence date in the moonlight
Maybelline Color Show porcelain party
Seche Vite Top Coat
*Gals nail plates

Next up in the 30DNC: stripes! I get the feeling I will be using my trusty nail tattoos again for this one!!!

30 Day Nail Challenge Day 9: Rainbow

Day 9 of the 30 Day Nail Challenge: rainbow!!!
This manicure was really fun to do, I tried a new-to-me product from Nailene: Nail Tattoos!! They are basically a water transfer, just like those temporary tattoos you wear as a kid. Here is a picture of the packaging:

20130410-221801.jpg
For about $7 CAD you get two mini nail polishes and thirty nail tattoos, I cut the tattoos in half before applying them. Since I had a leftover half I cut it up into strips and used them as accents to tie the look together.

20130410-222329.jpg
I am loving these nail tattoos! I can’t wait to try the other styles that came in the kit. I especially like the maps of the New York City Subway system. I may use them later in the challenge for the movie themed nails… Stay tuned!

What do you think? Rainbow enough for the Challenge?
Next up: gradient nails

For this look I used:
Revlon Provoke
Maybelline Color Show Blue Blowout
Revlon Enchanting
Pure Ice Excuse Me
